Canwr a chyfansoddwr dwyieithog o Bwllheli ydi Al Lewis.

Mae ei albwm diweddaraf ‘Fifteen Years’ yn archwilio’r themâu o galar a iachâd drwy brofiad Al ei hun o ddod i ddygymod â cholli ei dad tra’n gobeithio helpu eraill sydd mewn sefyllfa tebyg.

Mae o wedi rhyddhau sawl albwm, wedi ennill Cân + Albwm Gorau yng Ngwobrau Americana (fel rhan o Lewis & Leigh); wedi ei enwebu ar gyfer y Wobr Gerddoriaeth Gymreig ac mae ei albyms i gyd wedi treulio sawl wythnos yn rhif 1 ar y siartiau Cymreig.

Mae Al wedi perfformio mewn digwyddiadau eiconig fel Glastonbury, Gŵyl Gerdd Americana Nashville, Gŵyl Werin Philadelphia, Gŵyl Lorient (Llydaw) a Celtic Connections yn Glasgow.

Mae ei sengl ddiweddar ‘The Farmhouse’ yn ymwneud â’r effaith y mae perchnogaeth ail gartrefi yn ei chael ar gymunedau gwledig ledled Cymru.

Cafodd y gân ei henwebu ar gyfer y ‘Gân Wreiddiol Orau’ yng Ngwobrau Gwerin Cymru 2023.

Sengl Al yn seiliedig ar stori Nadolig Dylan Thomas, ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’ oedd y gân gyntaf i’w chanu yn Gymraeg i’w ychwanegu at restr chwarae BBC Radio 2.

Roedd ei albwm ‘Te yn y Grug’ yn ddarn corawl-gwerin cysyniadol, a gafodd ei ddangos am y tro cyntaf fel rhan o sioe gerdd hynod lwyddiannus o’r un enw yn Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Llanrwst 2019.

Al Lewis is a bilingual singer/songwriter from Pwllheli.

His latest album ‘Fifteen Years’ examines the universal themes of grief and healing through Lewis’s own experience of finally coming to terms with the loss of his father while hoping to help others in similar situations.

He has released multiple albums, won Best Song + Album at the UK Americana Awards (as part of Lewis & Leigh); been nominated for the Welsh Music Prize and his albums have all spent multiple weeks at #1 on the Welsh charts.

Al has performed at iconic events such as Glastonbury, Nashville’s Americana Music Festival, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Lorient Festival (Brittany) and Celtic Connections in Glasgow.

His recent single ‘The Farmhouse’ is about the impact that second-home ownership is having on rural communities across Wales. It was nominated for ‘Best Original Song’ at the 2023 Welsh Folk Awards.

Al’s single based upon the Dylan Thomas Christmas story, ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’ was the first song sung in Welsh to make it onto the BBC Radio 2 playlist.

His album ‘Te yn y Grug’ (Tea in the Heather) was a concept choral-folk piece, material from which premiered as part of the hugely successful sell-out musical of the same name at the 2019 Welsh National Eisteddfod.
